Careers Without Borders 2023

The NZIIA Student Subcommittee is pleased to invite you to attend our flagship event, Careers Without Borders 2023!
Careers Without Borders gathers panelists from a range of backgrounds and professions here in Aotearoa to provide current students at the Victoria University of Wellington with guidance and insight as to what career paths exist post-grad. Students are invited to attend three sessions of panel discussions, followed by time to network with speakers and peers.
The event will run as follows:
- 5:20-5:30: Welcome
- 5:30-6:00pm: MFAT Panel
- 6:10-6:40pm: Breakout session 1 (students can attend one of 3 panels)
- 6:50-7:20pm: Breakout session 2 (students can attend a second of the 3 panels)
- 7:20-7:50pm: Networking time
Following the MFAT panel, the three specialized panels from which students can choose to attend two include: Trade and Commerce, International Development, and Defense and Security.
The following are our confirmed speakers thus far for each panel:
- MFAT: Jan Henderson (International Whaling Commission), Keawe Woodmore (FTA Implementation Unit) and Paddy Hansen (Graduate Policy Officer).
- Trade and Commerce: Tiger Huang (MFAT, Americas Division), Matt Castle (VUW, International Political Economy), and Sam Headifen (MPI, Policy Analyst - Trade Policy).
- International Development: Wendy Choo (Volunteer Services Abroad) and Marnie Lloydd (VUW, ex-UNHCR Consultant, ex-ICRC).
- Defense and Security: Ruby Meagher (DPMC, Advisor in the National Intelligence and Risk Coordination team), Maggie Dever (MOD, Ministerial and Executive Services team), and Tony Lynch (DPMC, Deputy Chief Executive, National Security Group).
