Thursday, 19 March 2020, 5:30pm
NMIT Room G104

SPEAKER: Emeritus Professor Bevan Grant

Bevan Grant has spent much of his working life teaching and researching in the tertiary sector. After completing graduate studies at the University of Victoria, British Columbia he moved to the School of Physical Education, at the University of Otago.   His next position was a Professorship at the University of Waikato with responsibility for establishing the Department of Sport and Leisure Studies. His particular interest was how social, psychological, and political factors influence the way people of all ages make (or not) physical activity an integral part of lifestyle.   In his address he will trace the history of the Olympic Games against the background of the International incidents and tensions that took place either at or prior to each quarterly event.
