NELSON: Still Lives - a memoir of Gaza
Thursday 20 February 2020, 5:30pm
NMIT Room G104

SPEAKER: Marilyn Garson

Marilyn has spent 18 years working with excluded communities in war-affected areas, focusing on economic empowerment, primarily with Afgan women, Cambodians with disabilities and Gazan University graduates.  She has just published a book telling the story of four years of work (2011 - 2015), two wars and one very unlikely social enterprise led by Gazan women.  She wrote her book to humanise a hidden community, and to spark conversation about New Zealand's international policies.  She writes and speaks in the language of human rights which she believes unifies us and leads to solutions.
