The National Office

The National Office, based in Wellington, is the central coordinating body for the NZIIA.  It is led by the Executive Director Maty Nikkhou-O'Brien. It runs a wide range of seminars, workshops and lectures, as National Office events, working with the Wellington Branch to ensure complementarity.  Each year one particularly distinguished speaker is chosen to give the Annual Foreign Policy Lecture.

The office provides advice on the strategic direction of the Institute to the bimonthly meetings of the Standing Committee, and acts as secretariat to the annual National Council meeting.  It is responsible for the national budget, for seeking sponsorship from government agencies and private organizations, and for organizing the mail-out six times per annum of the New Zealand International Review.  It receives membership fees from corporate and institutional members, of which there are close to 90 (individual members pay fees to their respective branches).

The office is housed on the Rutherford House, level3, Pipitea campus, Victoria University of Wellington. It has a very close relationship with the University both in the context of organizing seminars and in arranging venues for lectures.
